Have you ever wondered why there should be self-care in our day-to-day life ?? And what are its benefits ?? The idea behind this post is to provide you with some inspiration so that it helps reduce stress, improves mental clarity, and boosts wellbeing.
Start Your Day with a Mindful Morning Routine
1) Waking up : the moment you wake up the 1st time in the morning when the alarm rings is the moment that you need to get out of your bed immediately. This actually shows that you wanted to create a habit that leads you to a healthier life.
The unfortunate reality is that going back to sleep after your alarm goes off (hitting snooze multiple times) can actually increase your level of tiredness and make you feel drowsy, because you don’t have the opportunity to fall back into a deep sleep and instead each time you snooze you dip in and out of a surface level sleep.
The more you snooze, the more confused your body and brain become (“hmm are we getting up or not?”), because of waking up at different times each and every day.
Tips for a better wake-up :
- Set your alarm for the same time every day.
- Use the time you would have spent snoozing to practice a ritual saying (no, not today, i have to wake up no matter what and achieve that thing). Now it’s totally up to you to decide that dialogue or choose whatever suits you.
- And always try to practice gratitude every time you wake up, saying thanks (if you’re a religious person, say it to GOD and if not just say it to the air)

2) Avoid your phone
I know this sounds boring and depressing because the phone is one of the things that excites us the most in our lives right ??? and we became so addicted to it that we keep it so close to us even while we sleep. But scrolling your phone first thing in the morning is the worst form of early morning self-sabotage. And you waste your precious early mornings just by getting to know what's happening around you. Wait wait… there's still a lot of day ahead of you to do that.

3) Hydrate
After being asleep for 8 hours (ideally), we almost wake up feeling tired and lacking energy. That's because our body is completely dehydrated. So the first thing you do after you wake up is drink a glass of water.

4) First few minutes
After drinking water, start making your bed as it shows to kick start a chain reaction of organization and focus, helping you to increase your productivity and complete more tasks, because you feel accomplished for having already completed a simple win!
5) Stretching, meditation & journaling :
After 8 hours of sleep, it’s common to wake up feeling stiff, and implementing a simple stretching routine is an absolute game-changer.
Then with 5-10 minutes of intentional breathing, focus, and clarity is a great way to set a positive, calm tone for the entire day.
Finishing up your morning routine with setting the goals for the entire day gives you enough motivation to kick start.
Move your Body everyday
Now I know many of you may feel that “move your body everyday” means doing exercises like cardio, weight lifting etc. Please stop thinking like that…. It’s way different than what you think. It’s almost putting a small amount of effort every single day.
Moving every day has the capacity to improve every part of your body, from your brain to your joints.
Being healthy does not just mean being physically fit, it also requires being intellectually and emotionally well. Healthy living should be a part of your daily routine. Let’s find out what’s the importance of moving your body everyday
helps maintain healthy metabolism.
Do you know that inactivity in your daily life leads to weight gain and obesity over the period ? which is not at all good for your health.
Now skinny people may wonder and be happy that inactivity helps them to gain weight and reach their goal. Let me tell you straight forward……….. Those are not healthy gains. In the future It will cause a major problem like sudden heart attacks as your metabolism is very low due to no physical activity in your life.
You can keep these conditions at bay by increasing your physical activity. Your metabolic rate, often known as your metabolism, rises with regular activity. Your metabolism slows down as you grow older, staying active keeps your metabolic rate healthy.
Now let’s put things into practice, take a 10-15 min walk outside every single day and also do any exercise that requires you to work against gravity, such as walking, dancing, using the stairs, or weight lifting in the gym (if interested). These things actually help you to maintain and build bone mass.
Keep in mind that the bigger the impact, the better for muscle & bone formation which directly leads to healthy life.
Set Digital Boundaries & Reduce Screen Time
Now you guys have to agree that we have all been there – sitting down to focus on something(let’s say studies, work etc), only to get pulled into a cycle of notifications, emails, friends sending some text messages, memes and then endless scrolling until we get tired.
Don’t you think that these devices are constantly demanding attention, making it harder to stay on track with what really matters.
You need to stop this immediately to have a healthy life. Setting digital boundaries is not just about cutting down the screen time, it’s about taking back control, improving your mental wellness, and being more present in your day-to-day life.

Excessive screen time, particularly on social media, contributes to increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy
Creating digital boundaries can improve not only productivity but also mental clarity and emotional health.
Before you can set boundaries, you need to understand and identify where your time is going. Keep asking these questions to yourself :
- How often do you check your phone?
- Which apps or websites do you spend the most time on?
- How often do you respond to notifications immediately?
After assessing those above questions, set some clear intentions like :
- “I want to limit my social media use to 1-2 hours per day”
- “I will not use my phone for the first hour after waking up”
The most important thing is that you need to put away screens one hour before your actual bedtime as it interferes with melatonin and quality sleep.
Eat & Hydrate for Energy
To maintain consistent energy throughout the day, you need to hydrate and eat equally each and every day. Eating nutritious food and staying hydrated would produce energy within your body and you can overcome fatigue.
But nowadays due to busy schedules, most of us neglect hydration and nutrition, and chase after their dreams and goals. Common guys, “Health is Wealth”. Ok tell me something, what’s the point in earning tons of money when you’re unhealthy and ultimately you spend all of that on your hospital bills ?? Are you getting my point ??
So the ideal way to maintain consistency here is :
- Drink at least 3 litres of water daily( i.e 8 glasses of water ) as water is vital for bodily functions, nutrient transport and energy production.
- include whole foods( fruits, veggies, protein and healthy fats) in your diet.
Some of the energy foods that you must incorporate into your diet to feel healthy and active throughout the day:
- Nuts
- Bananas
- Leafy greens
- Oats
- Dark chocolate (my personal favourite)
- Eggs
Prioritize Rest & Sleep
This is the most important step to do each and every day as quality sleep improves your focus, mood and immune health.
Sometimes, the pace of modern life barely gives you time to stop and rest. It can make getting a good night’s sleep on a regular basis seem like a dream.
Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders. These range from heart disease and stroke to obesity and dementia.
To start having a quality sleep, you need to follow these:
- Create a bedtime routine, Always try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. This creates a mechanism which allows you to follow that schedule and your body gives you alerts about when to sleep and wake up. To do this you need to create an environment like a dark room with no distractions like screens, excessive lights.
- Sleep 7-9 hours every night, this time range is a must for everyone one of us as it provides enough energy for the day without any fatigue. And also its best advised that you go to bed reading a book instead of scrolling your mobiles. You can also try deep breathing or meditation to gain all the control of your body.
Conclusion
So that’s it guys, if you slowly start following all the above said things you will definitely see a lot of change in your lifestyle and notice a tremendous positive transformation.
I know it will be difficult at the start but small daily changes equals big impact. Selfcare doesn’t have to be complicated, do it step-by-step.
So why not pick one habit today and see how it goes, then you can slowly implement other habits.
Which self-care habit will you start with today?? Let me know in the comments ! I’d love to hear.
